Custom Printing at MAKE

MAKE offers two kinds of printing: Direct-to-Garment (DTG) and All-Over, or "edge-to-edge", printing for a variety of goods such as t-shirts and hoodies.

DTG is a process of printing on textiles using specialized aqueous ink jet technology. DTG printers typically have a platen designed to hold the garment in a fixed position, and the printer inks are jetted or sprayed onto the textile by the print head.

Our All-Over Printing process sublimates the ink directly into the fabric which creates vibrant colours that will not fade and allows us to print from "edge-to-edge".

We also offer sublimation printing on an assortment of hard goods too.

Volume discounts are based on using the same graphics on all shirts.

All prices are based on artwork that is "ready-to-print".

No artwork? You can use our MAKE Designer tool online or in-store to create your own artwork, or you can have someone at MAKE help you set up your artwork for a fee. Design fees start at $15 and go up $5 for 5 minute increments after 10 minutes.

Printing on Your Fabric or Garments - $21+

We will do this, but we will not replace or refund for any unsatisfactory prints.

This price is for a t-shirt with no troublesome seams or your piece of plain fabric. Discounts for multiple prints are available. For difficult-to-print items (most things beyond the aforementioned are difficult), we will quote.

Please note that we cannot print on items that have

  • Seams on front or back
  • Existing prints or embroidery
  • Spandex or built-in bras
  • Products made with less than 50% cotton

MAKE offers two great ways to print onto t-shirts, digital printing and silk screening. For volume orders that have graphics with few colours, silk screening may be a great option. Check out our Imprinting Guide to find out which method suits your project, or visit our silk screening page to learn more.

MAKE does not silk screen on customer supplied items.

All-Over or "Edge-to-Edge" Printing at MAKE

Now you can print "All-Over" a shirt - from top to bottom and back to front with no limits! MAKE is the first retail store to use this cutting edge technology and MAKE.

Bring your own graphics or photos or choose from our growing selection of great images, graphics and doodles to build your shirt graphic.

Please note: MAKE will not print copyright protected images or artwork without the permission of the creator. We do require you to affirm that you have the right to use any of the images you supply to us to reproduce.

All-Over, or "Edge-to-Edge", printing requires graphics built at at least 12" wide x 16" high (portrait) or 16" wide by 12" high (landscape) at 200dpi. As with any printing, the higher quality the image is, the cleaner the print result will be.

No. All-Over, or "Edge-to-Edge", printing requires specially built garments that use sublimation-friendly fibres. We can only print on the products provided at MAKE.

For customers shopping in-store we often do same-day turnaround for appropriately sized projects. Volume orders (12+) are scheduled based on our volume of business - please allow 3 to 6 days. You can always call to find out our current production schedule as we are open 7 days a week!

Expect to have smudges, blurs and creasing near edges, seams and collars of garments. These are a part of the printing process, particularly under the arm, and are unpredictable and prints cannot be rejected on this basis. Keep this in mind when designing, specifically placement of important artwork.

We use large format sublimation printing designed specifically for fabrics. The specialized ink bonds with the fibres of the fabric under heat and pressure. The result is a longer lasting, more vibrant, more breathable, and softer garment compared to classic printing and silk screening.

We know not everyone has photo editing software, which is why we recommend Background Burner to quickly remove the background from any image. Be sure to save it as a PNG file with transparency, and then upload in our Make Designer. Click here to see an example.

MAKE's All-Over, or "Edge-to-Edge", printing technology allows us to print up to 42" x 42' on our own white polyester fabric. An image this big would cost $53 to produce (plus taxes.) Please contact us if you're thinking of printing this large.

Custom, made-to-order items are FINAL sale and cannot be refunded or cancelled. At MAKE we always want you to be super happy with your order, so we encourage you to reference product size charts and feel free to contact us with any questions you may have before ordering. If a garment is found to be defective we encourage you to email us at imaging@makevancouver.com so that we can arrange the return with you.
