An Embroidery Story

Embroidery is the perfect way to preserve a moment forever!  Which is just what Gura Gill did when he came to MAKE with the idea for a custom patch for his girlfriend. We sat down with him to talk about his experience while ordering custom embroidery at MAKE! 

Where did you get the idea for this cute gift?

My girlfriend mentioned she liked patches. I knew from before she liked embroidery. I thought I’d put it together for a cute gift. The gift was for her welcome back to BC. We both go to UBC, but she’s from LA, so I thought I’d make her a surprise welcome back gift basket, and this was to be the main event of it!

Did you do the artwork yourself?

I didn’t do the artwork myself, it was by an artist called @mysticscribbles from etsy. It was based off a picture of us from an event we went together - pictured below.

How did you find out about MAKE?

I googled ‘custom patch creation and embroidery’ and MAKE was the top link. I then looked at your guys facebook and instagram and everything looked so nice, aesthetic, and warm that I thought I’d fill in a request.

Have you done anything like this at MAKE before?

I haven’t! This was my first experience at MAKE and I loved talking to the reps, everyone found the idea and artwork adorable. I enjoyed working with Alejandra from embroidery the most! She was very accommodating and helped with the final design of the patch.

What was your experience like with MAKE?

It was very positive. Everyone understood my vision and worked best with me to achieve it. I didn’t settle for anything less than perfect and neither did they.

Would you do it again?

I absolutely would. I think it would make a cute gift for any occasion. I might do it as another surprise some day, like I said, she loves patches!
