Production Supervisor Position at MAKE

MAKE Vancouver is currently seeking a Production Supervisor to join our team at our new production studio in East Vancouver.

This is our new space where we print (Direct-to-Garment, Sublimation and Screen Printing), engrave and embroider custom items for our clients and for our own in-house brands (MAKE Originals and Ole Originals).Β 

The studio is also the e-commerce fulfillment hub for MAKE and Ole Originals. We also manage the processing of larger stock and client shipments for Promosapien and MAKE. It’s a busy place!

Position Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating all MAKE production teams, ensuring optimal efficiency for all production-related processes and activities at our studio. This role will work closely with our production and retail management teams to make sure that we are going above and beyond to meet the needs of our customers by delivering top quality products through direct-to-garment printing (DTG), screen printing, sublimation printing, laser engraving, and embroidery. The Production Supervisor will be expected to provide training and ongoing coaching to our production teams, requiring expert level understanding of relevant print and embroidery processes. This is a management level position requiring a person with a proven ability to deliver results with minimal supervision.

Production Supervisor Responsibilities:

  • Creating and maintaining production schedules for multiple departments to meet changing demand
  • Forecasting the needs of our production teams, adapting schedules, and coaching accordingly
  • Ongoing skills and knowledge training for production teams
  • Working within the production teams when necessary
  • Tracking and reporting on production outputs
  • Developing metrics and new processes to improve production efficiency
  • Ensuring quality control and mistake management
  • Proactively identifying and responding to production-related issues by maintaining consistent and clear communication with each production department
  • Taking initiative to implement new processes and procedures
  • Managing the use of production tracking software and apps, ensuring that all departments are utilizing them correctly
  • Ensuring that all production machinery and equipment is kept in good working condition
  • Maintaining proper supply levels for all departments, ensuring efficient and cost-effective ordering of supplies
  • Working with production departments to maintain and manage inventory levels
  • Maintaining consistent and clear communication with our retail management team to meet the inventory needs of our stores and e-commerce site
  • Overseeing the shipping and receiving processes at the production studio
  • Working with the HR Coordinator to ensure that the staffing needs of our production teams are met
  • Coordinating training and development for employees during slower production times
  • General studio supervision and assistance as needed
  • Any and all other relevant duties, as assigned by the executive team

Required Skills And Experience:

  • Proven ability to organize people and production processes across multiple departments
  • Proven ability to plan and manage multiple production schedules (experience using payroll software is an asset, but not required)
  • Proven ability to manage inventory and production supplies
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative and work proactively to maintain smooth company operations
  • 5+ years of DTG and/or screen printing experience
  • 5+ years of machine embroidery experience
  • Experience managing in a studio or warehouse production environment
  • Experience supervising shipping and receiving operations, ideally in retail operations
  • Strong preference will be given to candidates with a background in both production and retail settings
  • Strong fundamental computer skills
  • Experience with any of the following is an asset but can be trained to the right candidate:
  • Shopify
  • Lightspeed
  • Katana
  • Adobe Suite

MAKE Commitments and Expectations

While this position will be scheduled Monday to Friday, flexibility to work outside of regular hours will be required (i.e. staff training events, year-end processes, etc.).
